The challenge
Due to limitations on the working hours of drivers of trucks, they need to stop in the parking on their route for about 8 hours to rest in their truck. They usually stop at night time. The problem is during this stop, trucks are not in service for those hours which leads to low efficiency. Moreover, the drivers stop at night time when roads are less crowded and drive in the daytime when roads are crowded which causes more traffic and more fuel consumption. In addition, the drivers rest in their trucks which is not convenient and reduce job satisfaction.
The solution
Providing driver-sharing hubs in the middle of some corridors. In these hubs, at the beginning of their rest shift, drivers hand over their trucks to drivers who already have finished their rest shift (or freelancer drivers who attend in the hub to take the trucks). A software platform will provide information about drivers, routes, and trucks to the carrier companies who are participating in this program. With this solution, trucks will not stop at night time which leads to more efficiency, more driving in less crowded hours, and faster delivery. Moreover, drivers have a nice place to rest.
